International Student Support Office organized a captivating cultural event where students showcased their diverse cultures, music, dance, and traditional costumes.
From Kazakhstan to Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan to Pamir, the event was a true celebration of the rich cultural heritage and traditions of the region that took place in IQ Club.
Central Asia Day is an annual event that celebrates the rich cultural heritage of the five countries in the region, namely Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. This event aims to promote intercultural exchange and raise awareness about the unique traditions, languages, music, and art of Central Asia.
This year’s event was a huge success, with many international students in attendance. The festivities began with Alireza and Kimia from Iran sharing their insights on celebrating Nowruz or the Persian New Year. The audience was fascinated to learn about the symbolism and significance of this ancient festival.
Following that, students from Kazakhstan and Pamir presented a traditional costume show, featuring vibrant and intricate traditional outfits that reflect the region’s diverse cultural identity. The beautiful harmonies of the Kazakh choir „Шанырак” touched everyone’s hearts, and their performance of the song „Cулу Кыз”, which means “A Beautiful Girl” added to the joyful atmosphere of the event.
The event also showcased a variety of traditional dances, musical performances, and singing, including the Pamir dance, Kyrgyz instrument called „Komuz,” multicultural dancers from Uzbekistan, and a wedding dance from Kazakhstan. The trio from Kyrgyzstan, Медина, Нурай, and Мику, sang the most popular Kyrgyz song „Kыргызстаным,” expressing their love for their motherland.
International students also showcased their talents, with Baubek from Kazakhstan playing the traditional Kazakh instrument dombyra and a student duo from Pamir performing a mesmerizing dance. The Kazakhstan dancers also performed the traditional dance called „Arular,” showcasing the grace and elegance of Central Asian dance forms.
Finally, the event ended with a student from Kazakhstan singing two songs that left the audience mesmerized. Overall, Central Asia Day was a fantastic celebration of the rich and diverse cultural heritage of the region. It showcased the beauty of the region’s traditions, music, and art, and promoted cultural exchange and understanding among people from different backgrounds.
