The 30th Inauguration Ceremony of the academic year at the University of Information Technology and Management in Rzeszów (UITM) was held at the Centre for International Education on the Kielnarowa campus. This year’s event marked a significant milestone – 30 years since the founding of the University. In his inaugural address, Rector Dr. hab. Andrzej Rozmus, Prof. UITM, welcomed first-year students and emphasized the University’s long-standing values: reliability, responsibility, tolerance, respect for diversity, usefulness to the economy, and care for the environment. These principles, he noted, continue to serve as a compass for UITM’s development and educational mission.
Reflecting on UITM’s origins, the Rector recalled the vision of Prof. Tadeusz Pomianek, the University’s President, who in the mid-1990s recognised the urgent need for highly qualified professionals to support Poland’s transition to a market economy. What began as a small initiative has grown into a modern academic institution that continuously adapts to global trends and labour market demands.
The ceremony also included the traditional student oath taken by doctoral seminar participants and first-year students of both Polish- and English-language programmes. Guests had the opportunity to watch a film summarizing the past academic year, as well as to celebrate the winners of the 1st Prof. Wiktor Zin Biennale, organised to mark the 100th anniversary of the distinguished artist’s birth. The main prize went to Kacper Łogonowicz, while Julia Rylewicz and Helena Wróbel received honourable mentions — all students of the Computer Graphics and Multimedia Production programme.
In the 2025/2026 academic year, UITM welcomes nearly 6,000 students, including 1,300 international students from over 50 countries. This year, the University recorded a significant increase in applications for both undergraduate and postgraduate studies, with Cybersecurity, Computer Graphics and Multimedia Production, Nursing, and Physiotherapy among the most popular programmes. The inauguration also highlighted the 25th anniversary of the Centre for Postgraduate Studies, which continues to play a leading role in professional education in south-eastern Poland.
