International Students Took Over Kielnarowa
International Day has become a permanent fixture in UITM’s events calendar. It is an integration event for students of our university, organized by international students and staff from International Recruitment and Collaboration. This year’s event had a multigenerational and very family-oriented character.
“International Day is now a traditional celebration of internationalism at our University. Students from many countries around the world, who began their academic journey here in Rzeszów, can share their culture, showcase their talents and enjoy themselves together in a relaxed atmosphere,” said Dr. Barbara Przywara, Vice-Rector for Teaching at UITM.
“It is also an opportunity for integration and for getting to know one another’s cultures and ways of celebrating. Our programme partners, alumni and lecturers also take part in the event. In an era of modern technological development, meetings of this kind are of exceptional value in building relationships,” the Vice-Rector added.
UITM Student Concert and Audience Vote
The audience watched 14 performances by participants from six countries: Kazakhstan, Zimbabwe, Ukraine, Pamir, Turkey and Jordan. In the audience vote, the clear winners —just like last year — were the dancers from SP Dance Group, representing Zimbabwe, Kazakhstan and Ukraine. Their performance paid tribute to the King of Pop, Michael Jackson. The group’s leader, Nashe Mukechi, was deeply moved.
“International Day was a huge success and a very special experience for me. As a third-year student, I knew this was my last edition of the event, so I wanted to give it my all,” said Nashe Mukechi after receiving the main prize.
“Our goal was to show that dance can bring people together from different countries, cultures and backgrounds, and to create an atmosphere of shared fun. I am glad the audience received our performance so warmly. The prize of PLN 1,000 was a nice addition, but the most important thing was giving participants unforgettable emotions. I believe that is exactly what we managed to achieve,” Nashe added.
In addition to the concert, other attractions were prepared for International Day participants, including a performance by the “Ladies and Hussars” Association from Przemyśl, featuring our students Viktoriia Shumlianska and Ali Abdallah; quizzes and competitions with exciting prizes; an entertainment zone with a photo trailer, laser paintball and a disco with a DJ; as well as a performance by the “Aurora” Fire Theatre.
“International Day is a celebration of foreign students who chose UITM to gain an education and prepare for their future professional careers. We have many students from different countries around the world, and for this one day we give them the stage and the entire campus facility in Kielnarowa so they can enjoy themselves through singing, dancing and good food,” said Magda Louis, Director of International Recruitment and Collaboration.
This was already the fifth edition of the event, which continues to enjoy unwavering popularity among students. “We are delighted that they take part and send wonderful photos and videos back to their home countries. The response is simply fantastic,” added Magda Louis
We would like to thank the sponsors of the lottery prizes: Deloitte, SUNRISE Alliance, FlyPark, Aloha Food, Bowling&Club, and TAIM – Thai Massage Rzeszów.
