„AFRYKAMERA – days of African culture at Kino za Rogiem” is an event that consists of film screenings and numerous accompanying events.

On the weekend of January 20-21, 2024, the most interesting premiere films made by African filmmakers, awarded at international festivals, will be shown. Many of these titles will not be released for regular distribution, and the only chance to see them is to participate in Afrykamery.

In addition to film productions, during the event – thanks to the cooperation with the Man Like You Foundation – we will learn about everyday life and flavors of Africa, costumes and jewelry, the importance of music in culture, and the language of drummers – there will also be workshops on shamanic instruments for children. The culmination of the weekend will be a performance by a choir of vocalists from Africa operating at UITM, and a special African menu will be available to the guests of the event throughout the weekend: soups, coffees, and teas according to original recipes. All events take place in the intimate space of Kino za Rogiem, which has been presenting ambitious film art in Rzeszów for several years and organizing concerts, meetings, workshops, and educational events.

The motto of the 2023-2025 AFRYKAMERA Festival is AFRICAN GAZE, and the main theme of the 18th edition is WOMAN. As the organizers of the festival emphasize: We show films made by women and about women, we will support debutants and we will appreciate artists with longer experience. We want to loudly emphasize the role of women in African culture and art and create a safe zone full of female energy, where we will talk about feminism, development, and the power of women

Throughout the Festival, the Man Like You Foundation has also prepared the opportunity to play in AWALE – ISE OGIURO and a presentation of African costumes – there will also be an opportunity to do a photo session in African costumes (if you are interested, please wear colorful T-shirts and bring colorful scarves or scarves).

UITM students can receive a 10 percent discount upon presentation of their student ID.
