The University of Information Technology and Management in Rzeszów was a strategic partner of the 2nd Podkarpackie Conference on “Nursing, Obstetrics, Physiotherapy in Practice.”
The organizer of the conference was the Polish Nursing Society. Invited speakers gave very interesting lectures in the field of medicine, including nursing, obstetrics, physiotherapy, and even bioengineering. In the poster session, the first place was taken by UITM Nursing students.
The rich and interesting programme of the conference, which took place on May 24 this year at the UITM Campus in Kielnarowa, included issues that determine the realities of the daily work of medics. They discussed, among others, physical examinations in sudden neurological conditions, neutropenic fever, sepsis in pediatric oncology, sudden states in dialysis, cardiology, as well as rehabilitation after surgery with complications, in the process of restoring independent breathing and gait function. The topics of new diagnostic and therapeutic methods in ectopic pregnancy and Occupational Health and Safety (OHS), modern technologies and medical engineering, and the professional responsibility of medical personnel were also discussed.
“I am very pleased that there are so many participants of the conference, representatives of medical circles, representatives of Podkarpackie universities educating future health care workers, and representatives of professional associations, e.g., Polish Nursing Society, District Chamber of Nurses and Midwives, and National Chamber of Physiotherapists,” said Katarzyna Wyczarska-Dziki, Vice-Dean for Nursing at UITM.
The event, which was a combination of science and practice, guaranteed a great opportunity to discuss and exchange views among a large group of people associated with health care. The conference was a forum for the exchange of experience and contributed to further closer cooperation between practitioners and research and teaching staff, which will certainly have an important dimension in improving patient care. We were extremely pleased to host so many wonderful nurses, midwives, physiotherapists, and other distinguished guests. The exchange of observations, experiences, and discussions behind the scenes is something that is always an additional value of such conferences. We hope that next year we will be able to repeat this intellectual event.
In the poster session, the first place was taken by students of the UITM Nursing Scientific Circle, who presented work on the management of hypoglycemia. The award also went to Nursing students, including Mitchell Mazorodze, for her work on dealing with anaphylactic shock.
