There was a solemn oath, awards and speeches, but due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the inauguration ceremony was in a hybrid mode. Only dozen of people: lecturers, students and University leadership were present at the Center for International Education in Kielnarowa, but the entire event was broadcast online in two language versions: Polish and English.
“I assure you, Dear Students, that here you will be able to develop all your talents and form your intellect. I hope that UITM will become a place of inspiration and development for you „- said UITM Rector, Wergiliusz Gołąbek Ph.D during his speech.
This academic year will welcome over 6,000 students at University of Information Technology and Management in Rzeszów, studying either undergraduate or postgraduate programmes. Nearly 1,500 foreigners from around 50 countries, will start or continue their education here. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic regime, teaching at UITM continues in a hybrid mode, the mixture of face-to-face and online classes.
The inauguration of the new academic year opened the Jubilee of the 25th Anniversary of the University. “25 years ago, we knew it wasn’t going to be easy – and it wasn’t. But I can say that we have created something exceptional”- said the Co-founder and President of the University, Prof. Tadeusz Pomianek. The jubilee events and celebration will last throughout the whole year, with the main one scheduled for March 8, 2021, exact date of establishing UITM in 1996.
During the Academic Year Opening Ceremony, number of students, as well as lecturers were presented with several awards, as a recognition of their work, dedication and achievements.
UITM Ambassadors, students who are actively promoting UITM in their countries, have been awarded UITM Golden Passport. In addition, they have received special prize founded by UITM President – flight over Rzeszów on the private plane.
