This year, over 6500 people have started their studies at University of Information Technology and Management in Rzeszów. Over 2100 foreigners will start studies in academic year 2022/2023.
UITM has run 16 programmes in 4 Colleges, in Polish and English language.
The official ceremony and Inauguration of the new academic year at the University of Information Technology and Management in Rzeszów took place on the campus located in Kielnarowa.
It started with awarding of the BENE MERITUS DE ACADEMIA Medal of Merit for UITM to the former Rector of UITM, who is currently the Vice-President- Wergiliusz Gołąbek. The medal is an expression of recognition for the work and effort put into educating the young generation of Poles and consolidating the position of UITM in many rankings of polish universities.
This year new academic year brings many changes to daily life at UITM. We are glad to announce that our University enters the new academic year with a new Sustainable Development Strategy for 2022-2024. During the inaugural speech, the Rector, prof. Andrzej Rozmus pointed out that in view of the challenges related to sustainable development, the role of universities is of key importance. It must create conditions for the development and dissemination of innovative and entrepreneurial attitudes, with particular attention to the implementation of the goals of sustainable development, ensuring a good life for future generations.
The importance of this topic in the University’s policy was emphasized also in the inaugural lecture delivered by prof. Jerzy Zwoździak entitled „Sustainable development – a philosophy for the busy”.
The inauguration is a new beginning, as well as the time of summeries.
During the speech, the Rector of UITM, prof. Andrzej Rozmus pointed out that all 4 UITM Colleges were highly rated during the last evaluation process of Polish scientific units and reminded that non-public universities were not subject to such obligation and in fact only about 10% of them submitted their scientific achievements for evaluation. The Rector also noted that the share of non-teaching income in the overall income structure remained at over 50% in the past year, and therefore, despite a strong slowdown in economic development and high inflation, UITM has a stable financial situation.
Traditionally, during the Inauguration, Matriculation took place, i.e. the act of admitting first-year students to the academic community. The university recorded over 50% increase in the number of people willing to undertake education, mostly in full-time studies.
Educational offer at UITM
The most popular programmes conducted in Polish-language are Computer Graphics and Multimedia Production, Game Design, Management, Cosmetology and Programming. The most popular English-language studies are: International Business Management, Aviation Management, Nursing and Programming. Majority of our international students comes from: Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Zimbabwe, India and Turkey.
In the current academic year, UITM welcomed over 300 students of the 50+ Academy and nearly 300 students of our Academic High School.
Solidarity with Ukraine
An important element of the inauguration ceremony was a summary of the efforts made by the University in connection with the war in Ukraine. Due to the large number of Ukrainian Students and Employees, the University was very much involved in actions dedicated to Ukrainian community in Poland. UITM has rearrange IQ Club into a safe space for Ukrainian people. Place called „Come and rest” was full of fun, language courses, animations and workshops for children, psychological and legal help. UITM was supported by numerous large, medium and small companies, institutions and individuals. The representatives of those partner companies received flowers and symbolic diplomas from the hands of two Ukrainian children: Ewa and Renat. Ukrainian students and employees of UITM also thanked the President, prof. Tadeusz Pomianek and gave him traditional Ukrainian folk dolls.
