A delegation of representatives from Western Pacific University in Papua New Guinea visited the University of Information Technology and Management in Rzeszów.

The main purpose of the visit was cooperation, among others, in the field of educating students from Papua New Guinea.

The long-term cooperation with the young university from Papua New Guinea is carried out not only in the area of educating students from this part of the world, but also in the development of study programs, staff exchange and support in the development of modern IT infrastructure by specialists from UITM. Students from PNG are very ambitious and hard-working, and through their stay in Poland they can get to know European culture, establish contacts, which in the future may also result in business cooperation – says Dr. Barbara Przywara, Vice-Rector for Teaching.

The cooperation between UITM and Western Pacific University has been ongoing since 2019. It includes educating students from PNG, technical cooperation in creating an appropriate IT infrastructure at WPU, staff and student exchange for academic, research and internship purposes and a staff development program for WPU employees.

As part of international cooperation, our University tries to use the solutions of the best universities, and is also eager to share its own experiences and ideas for modern education. Here, we are dealing with the latter situation, i.e. for several years we have been supporting the development of the higher education network in Papua New Guinea. We educate students from this country and train university staff – says dr hab. Andrzej Rozmus, Rector of UITM.
