Who is this offer aimed at?

We invite individuals interested in advancing their academic journey in economics and finance, regardless of their current career paths, to pursue a doctoral degree. We particularly welcome individuals who:

  • Work in managerial positions in companies and financial institutions, and wish to enhance their knowledge in the field of economics and finance;
  • Are employed by government, local government, or international organisations, where they are responsible for financial management, human resources or strategic planning;
  • Hold analytical positions and wish to strengthen their ability to independently analyse economic processes and phenomena using scientific and methodological tools.
  • They are active in the field of economic education—both academic and practical—and strive to enhance their teaching skills and broaden their economic and financial expertise.
  • Are planning a research career in economics or finance and consider a PhD as a key step in achieving their research and academic aspirations.

Admission Procedure

  1. Online submission of application documents, including:
    1. preliminary version of the Doctoral Thesis Concept Card
    2. personal data form
    3. an academic CV
    4. Two letters of recommendation from academics
    5. a photograph
    6. confirmation of English language proficiency at a minimum B2 level
    7. diploma (or equivalent) confirming completion of a master’s degree
  2. Payment of the recruitment fee
  3. Online interview with the Recruitment Committee (including the potential supervisor)
  4. Decision of the Recruitment Committee
  5. In the event of a favourable decision:
    1. Submission of the paper (hard copy) documents
    2. signing of the contract

1st SEMESTER
  • Selection of principal and assistant supervisors
  • Establishment of a personalised study plan *
  • Completion of selected courses
  • Commencement of the literature review and development of the research project
  • Consultations with supervisors
  • Submission of a semester report on research work
2nd SEMESTER
  • Establishment of a personalised study plan
  • Completion of selected courses
  • Development of the concept, plan, and content of the doctoral dissertation
  • Consultations with supervisors
  • Teaching practice and research assistantship (e.g., preparation of an e-learning course)
  • Submission of a semester report on research work
3rd SEMESTER
  • Establishment of a personalised study plan
  • Completion of selected courses
  • Preparation and submission of a scientific article under the supervision of a supervisor
  • Research and work on the thesis text
  • Consultations with supervisors
  • Teaching practice and research assistantship (e.g., preparation of an e-learning course)
  • Submission of a semester report on research work
4th SEMESTER
  • Establishment of a personalised study plan
  • Completion of selected courses
  • Presentation of research at a scientific conference or internal symposium
  • Preparation for the qualifying examination (economics, finance, and methodology)
  • Final qualifying examination
  • Receipt of the Doctoral Education Track diploma
  • Research and work on the thesis text
  • Consultations with supervisors
  • Submission of a semester report on research work
5th SEMESTER
  • Public presentation of the research concept and discussion with university researchers
  • Submission of documents confirming achievement of level B2 in a modern foreign language
  • Research and work on the thesis text
  • Consultations with supervisors
  • Submission of a semester report on research work
6th SEMESTER
  • Consultations with supervisors
  • Submission of the completed doctoral thesis

* Examples of compulsory and elective subjects include International Finance, Financial Investments, Artificial Intelligence, Social Research Methods, Microeconomics, and Critical Thinking.
