STUDENT: Sultan Buzayev, Kazakhstan;
HOST UNIVERSITY: Chemnitz University of Technology (Chemnitz, Germany)
My exchange semester took place close to Poland – in Germany, to be more precise in Chemnitz. The host university and local representatives showed proper hospitality and kindness towards me. The local student office along with international office managed to deliver a positive experience to all international students by organizing unforgettable events and meetings during the whole semester.
In the beginning, I was in doubt whether I should go to Germany or not as I did not know the German language. But even though I did not speak German, I felt like I was at home due to international environment around me where everyone was from a different cultural background. I suppose this open-mindless and cultural awareness helped me to fit in and became a part of something big.
The biggest challenge for me was to leave my new friends and go back to my old life which I had before Erasmus. I look forward to meeting all these new people which I met during my Erasmus life one more time and even visit their home countries!
I am thankful to the Erasmus community which gave me such a unique chance to experience my life abroad for the whole semester! Thanks to Erasmus, I learned that countries have not only different cultures, but also the different attitude towards everyday life.
