„Future Forward” is an innovative project spearheaded by Khumoyun Abdujabborov, a senior student pursuing a master’s degree in Cyber Security. It triumphs as the winner of the Art of Product Building Hackathon as the best prototype business application idea.
Water conservation has become an increasingly critical global issue, demanding innovative solutions to combat alarming levels of water waste. Khumoyun, who is from Uzbekistan, a country with a rich history and various traditions, draws inspiration from his exploration of innovative solutions.
“Future Forward is an innovative concept that aims to revolutionize water conservation by addressing the issue of wastefulness in kitchen sinks and showers. Through my project, the primary objective was to tackle the problem of water waste and foster a culture of responsible water usage. The overarching goal was to introduce fresh ideas and implement practical strategies that would effectively reduce water waste, minimize environmental harm, and advocate for a sustainable approach to domestic water consumption “– says Khumoyun.
Future Forward was inspired by personal experiences, environmental concerns, and technological innovation. The project combines real-world experiences with a passion for sustainable practices, specifically targeting water conservation from leaky sinks and showers. Throughout the project, Khumoyun worked independently and overcame challenges by utilizing automated monitoring systems for data collection. Additionally, he also encouraged behavior change through education campaigns, conducted research on technical solutions, collaborated with water management, and maximized resource use through grants, sponsorships, and crowdfunding.
To ensure the project meets the expectations of the target audience, he engaged with them throughout the project, adjusts the project accordingly, and incorporates their unique objectives. This collaborative approach played a pivotal role in the project’s success. Design principles and guidelines considered during the development of the project include user-centered design, sustainability, accessibility, scalability, and aesthetic appeal, aiming to meet the highest standards in user experience, environmental impact, and visual appeal.
“What sets Future Forward apart from other projects are its unique and innovative elements such as technological advancements, user-friendly interfaces, behavioral insights, system integration, and collaboration with key stakeholders contribute to its distinctive approach” – added Khumoyun.
His advice to students undertaking similar projects is to thoroughly investigate the issue at hand, set clear goals, seek collaboration with like-minded individuals, remain open to new ideas, involve stakeholders throughout the process, iterate and test your solutions, and share your discoveries with others. He also encourages flexibility, persistence, impact assessment, and inspiring others through collaboration and knowledge sharing.
