How do different cultures celebrate holidays? What legends are passed down in Brazil, Nigeria, or Kazakhstan? What do Easter traditions in the UK and the US have in common—and how do they differ? These are just some of the questions we’ll explore during the second edition of the Holidays and Myths Festival, a unique event dedicated to the traditions, mythology, and holiday customs of cultures around the world.
🗓 The event will take place on 15 April 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., in Klub IQ at the University of Information Technology and Management in Rzeszów, 🎯 and is organized as part of the Cultural Adaptation project.
The festival will open with an intellectual warm-up led by Dr. Paula Wieczorek, featuring interactive quizzes about Easter traditions in English-speaking countries. This engaging activity will offer a fun and insightful way to learn about British and American holiday customs.
Next, Mr. Maciej Szeliga, a teacher from Zespół Szkół nr 3 in Rzeszów, will invite the audience to explore Irish culture in a presentation highlighting key differences between Irish and Polish ways of life.
Students from IX High School in Rzeszów will then take the stage to present vibrant stories and legends from Brazil and Nigeria, providing a glimpse into these rich cultural traditions. The event will conclude with a series of interactive presentations by members of the Interdisciplinary Research Club Humanus, who will guide the audience through lesser-known myths and holidays from countries such as Zimbabwe and Kazakhstan.
Holidays and Myths is a celebration of cultural education, intercultural exchange, and creative learning. The event is organized by the Department of English Studies and the Humanus Research Club, and is open to university students, high school students, teachers, and anyone with a passion for global cultures and traditions.
