Dr. Hab. Eng. Tadeusz Pomianek, Professor at UITM, participated in the Open Eyes Economy Summit 2024, an international congress on value economics held in Kraków. As the President of UITM, he was invited to take part in a discussion titled “The European Green Deal or Disorder?”

The Open Eyes Economy Summit 2024 took place in Kraków from November 19 to 20. Organized by the Open Eyes Economy movement, the event promotes the principle that economic values must be complemented by intangible values such as social engagement and responsibility toward the planet. The congress brought together approximately 300 speakers—leading experts in science, art, business, and politics—who shared their perspectives on value-based economics, sustainable development, ecology, and climate.

One of the key discussion panels, titled “The European Green Deal or Disorder?”, featured Dr. Hab. Eng. Tadeusz Pomianek, Professor at UITM, and Grzegorz Brodziak, CEO of Goodvalley Agro SA and President of the Polish Federation of Agricultural Producers.

The panel sparked critical reflections on the extent to which EU policies lay the groundwork for a successful transformation of the agri-food system. It also addressed questions such as:

  • Is the Green Deal solely an EU initiative, or does its success depend on fundamental changes in attitudes, behaviors, knowledge, and, above all, the acceptance of a new lifestyle and consumption habits?
  • Considering climate challenges, depleting resources, and the importance of health and animal welfare, should we continue consuming meat?
  • If not, do we understand the consequences of such changes, and are we prepared for them?

The panelists represented diverse viewpoints but reached consensus on several key issues through open dialogue. The discussion concluded with jointly developed conclusions aimed at addressing these critical challenges.
