The University of Information Technology and Management has been awarded a substantial subsidy from the budget of the Podkarpackie Voivodeship. The PLN 80,000 support will be utilized to acquire specialized equipment essential for enhancing the education of Nursing students at the university.
UITM has signed an agreement with the Podkarpackie Voivodeship, solidifying the support received for investment purchases. Dr. hab. Andrzej Rozmus, prof. UITM, along with Marshal Władysław Ortyl and Deputy Marshal Ewa Draus, were the signatories to this agreement. The PLN 80,000 subsidy will be utilized to implement the project titled „Development of the scientific and research infrastructure of the Medical College through the purchase of equipment for the needs of educating students of Nursing studies (first degree with a practical profile).
With the allocated funds, UITM aims to acquire a specialized freezer, laboratory incubator, and laboratory dryer with natural convection. These equipment purchases will directly benefit the education and training of Nursing students, enabling them to gain hands-on experience and practical skills in their field of study.
The meeting and the signing of agreements with representatives of universities were attended by Marshal Władysław Ortyl and Deputy Marshals Ewa Draus and Piotr Pilch.
Marshal Władysław Ortyl emphasized the significance of cooperation and relations with universities for the social and economic development of the Podkarpackie Voivodeship. In his address to university representatives during the meeting and signing of agreements, he acknowledged the pressing challenge of staff shortages in various industries. By investing in the education of future professionals, the local government aims to address these staffing needs and foster growth in the region.
UITM launched its Nursing programme in March 2020, offering weekend-afternoon classes conducted in both Polish and English. In the upcoming autumn, UITM will hold its first capping ceremony, where graduates of first-cycle Nursing studies will take an oath, receive their graduation diplomas, and be symbolically welcomed into the nursing profession by donning a cap.
The Nursing graduates from UITM are well-prepared for careers in various healthcare settings such as hospitals, clinics, hospice centers, nursing homes, sanatoriums, teaching institutions, and medical rescue units. With the demand for nursing services on the rise due to societal health challenges, aging populations, and the prevalence of chronic diseases, the need for skilled and dedicated nursing professionals has become indispensable.
The subsidy awarded to UITM is part of a larger initiative by the Podkarpackie Voivodeship, which allocated PLN 1.7 million in total subsidies for ten universities in the region this year. The local government has been providing support of this nature to universities since 2004, with a total allocation of PLN 27.5 million from the voivodship budget over the years.
