The most recent installment of the „Rector’s Coffee with a Graduate” series featured Yujun Sun, a graduate of UITM, originating from China.
Yujun graduated in Aviation Management in 2020. The monthly meetings between UITM graduates and the Rector’s Authorities aim to maintain connections and collaborate in a variety of common areas, such as business lodges, student workshops, internships, projects, and business partnerships. The meetings also serve to enhance the activities of the Graduate Club.
Yujun Sun is currently working as a business analytics intern to gain practical experience. During a meeting with the Rector of UITM, Dr. Andrzej Rozmus, prof. UITM and UITM Vice-Rector for Teaching, Dr. Barbara Przywara, Yujun Sun mentioned that he is interning in the leisure services department at SkyTeam Alliance, which is the second-largest airline alliance in the world. Yujun started his career four years ago during the pandemic, which was a challenging time for the aviation industry. He began as a business development specialist at DHL Supply Chain in China and worked there for six months. He then joined Air France KLM in China, where he worked for a year and a half as a business knowledge analyst.
Yujun Sun pursued his education by obtaining a bachelor’s degree in General Aviation Management. He was part of the first group of students in this field, which is worth mentioning. He has fond memories of his time in Rzeszów, especially the University staff who were responsible for English-language programs. They were incredibly helpful and welcoming, making him feel at home from the moment he arrived from China. This positive environment allowed him to focus on his studies with ease, and he looks back on his time in Rzeszów with great appreciation.
As stated by the graduate, the University provided a diverse international academic environment with exceptional lecturers from Germany and Poland. The curriculum offered a combination of theoretical knowledge and practical projects that significantly improved the graduate’s professional skills. Additionally, obtaining a UITM diploma that is accredited by the European Union has enabled the graduate to pursue further education in EU countries. It is worth noting that Yujun Sun is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Business Information Management at Erasmus University in Rotterdam.
When asked for advice to give to students, Yujun Sun responded that it is important to not only focus on studying, but also to participate in extracurricular activities. His advice to students today is to „study hard, have fun.” Maintaining a high grade point average is crucial for academic and career opportunities. It is also worth considering internships early on, as they provide the opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge in practical situations and can make it easier to choose a career path.
