„Pink Box” at UITM
„Take what you need for yourself and leave the rest for others” is the slogan of the „Pink Box” foundation, which fights exclusion and menstrual taboos. The University of Information Technology and Management joined the campaign at the initiative of the Student Council. Therefore, boxes containing free hygiene items have appeared in toilets at the university.
The Pink Box is a campaign aimed at fighting menstrual poverty and exclusion, as well as providing universal access to free menstrual (and non-menstrual) hygiene products in public spaces and menstruation education. The University of Information Technology and Management joined the campaign at the initiative of the Student Council.
Menstrual exclusion in Poland is a fact: many women and young girls cannot afford to buy necessary hygiene items and this negatively affects their well-being and activity in their public lives. By joining the Pink Box campaign, we also subscribe to the slogan that free access to hygiene items should be a right, not a luxury, in our country. There is also very limited education about menstrual exclusion, one of the basic physiological processes of women. It is time to change this and include this related topic in the normal daily discourse.
The location is not randomly chosen. All boxes are fitted in a comfortable way also for people with disabilities.
Where can you find these pink boxes?
