Athletes from Sports Club AZS UITM returned with medals from the Academic Championships of the Podkarpackie Voivodeship in Sport Climbing. Valentin Fedorov won silver in the individual classification, while our team also secured second place in the team classification. Our female athletes finished just off the podium.
Last Saturday, we competed for medals and trophies at the AMWP in the FLYWALL Climbing Center in Rzeszów. The climbing competition continues to grow in popularity each year, with more and more students trying their hand at this challenging yet highly spectacular sport.
Our AZS Club was represented by:
- Yaroslav Halych
- Vitalii Pyzh
- Adrian Kopiec
- Piotr Grabowski (coach)
- Karolina Rząsa
- Maksym Vyshnevskyi
- Oleksandr Vyshnevskyi
- Valentin Fedorov
The competition featured 39 participants—12 women and 27 men—representing six universities from our region: the University of Rzeszów, Rzeszów University of Technology, UITM Rzeszów, PANS Krosno, UP Sanok, and PANS Przemyśl.
This year’s competition format focused on “difficulty” climbing. Competitors faced four routes of varying complexity and earned points based on the distance they covered on each route.
The standout performer for our team was Valentin Fedorov, who finished second and won a silver medal in the individual classification. Adrian Kopiec, the second-highest scorer for our team, placed 6th overall. These results secured second place for our men’s team in the overall team classification.
In the women’s category, Karolina Rząsa narrowly missed the podium, finishing 4th. This result also earned our women’s team 4th place in the university classification.
Thank you to all our representatives for an outstanding performance!
