We broaden our horizons- UITM in Malaysia

A delegation from the University of Information Technology and Management recently embarked on a productive trip to Malaysia and Brunei to promote the university, enhance recruitment efforts, and establish academic, research, and student exchange collaborations with leading universities in the region.

Highlights of the Visit

The first stop for the UITM representatives in Malaysia was UNIMAS, a key partner university. The delegation, consisting of Magdalena Louis, Katarzyna Stachowicz-Rudzińska,and Milena Skiba, held fruitful discussions with UNIMAS officials, including the Vice-Chancellor, Second Vice-Chancellor, the Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science, and other university representatives.

Key areas of collaboration included:

  • Scientific and Research Cooperation: Exploring joint projects, particularly in sustainable development and innovative research.
  • Double Degree Programs: Developing shared degree programs in Aviation Management and Game Design & Development, which are popular across Southeast Asia.
  • Academic Mobility: Facilitating student and staff exchanges under the Erasmus+ program.

University of Technology Brunei (UTB), Brunei Darussalam

Another promising partner identified during the trip is the University of Technology Brunei (UTB). The delegation met with the Vice-Chancellor and academic staff to discuss areas of mutual interest, including:

  • Joint Education Programs: Initiating talks on double degree programs in Aviation Managementand Game Design & Development.
  • Mobility Programs: Exploring student and staff exchanges through Erasmus+ and other initiatives.
  • Research Collaboration: Identifying opportunities for joint research projects in innovative fields.

Meeting with the Polish Ambassador in Malaysia

The delegation met with Polish Ambassador Krzysztof Dobrowolski and Embassy staff. Key outcomes of this meeting included assistance with visa-related challenges for students. What is more, the Embassy will support UITM in Malaysia and Brunei, during Malaysian educational fairs in the future.

UITM’s Strategic Engagement in Southeast Asia

Malaysia, with its vibrant cultural heritage, stunning natural landscapes, and innovative educational environment, attracts numerous tourists and students. Recognizing this, UITM’s representatives aimed to understand how to attract young, ambitious individuals from the region to study in Poland.

The visit also opened up opportunities for UITM students to study in Malaysia as part of exchange programs. Furthermore, collaborations with UNIMAS and UTB promise significant prospects for research and innovation, with both institutions demonstrating a strong commitment to sustainable and impactful projects.
These developments mark a significant step in UITM’s mission to build lasting global partnerships and enhance its presence on the international stage.
