The University of Information Technology and Management in Rzeszów (UITM) has established the Sustainable Development Office, which coordinates and supports the University’s activities related to sustainable development. Its responsibilities include implementing the UITM Sustainable Development Policy and Strategy, as well as initiating and monitoring projects and initiatives undertaken in this area.
Sustainable development is an important part of UITM activities and encompasses initiatives related to the environment, society, and the economy. These include, among others, efforts to protect the climate and biodiversity, improve quality of life and access to education, as well as promote innovation, green energy, responsible waste management, and zero-emission transport.
UITM pursues its sustainable development goals through successive editions of its strategies, which set out the University’s directions and priorities in this area.
The University is currently implementing the UITM Sustainable Development Strategy for 2025–2029. The new strategy identifies four key areas of activity:
Education – developing competences related to sustainable development and incorporating its principles into the educational process;
Research and Development – supporting research and innovation addressing contemporary environmental and social challenges;
Knowledge Sharing and Partnerships for Sustainable Development – fostering cooperation, sharing knowledge, and engaging the academic community and external partners;
Organizational Governance – developing the University’s operations in accordance with the principles of responsible and sustainable management.
The strategy is aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and provides a framework for UITM activities in support of the environment, society, and responsible development.
The implementation of sustainable development activities is systematically monitored and documented through reports. Reports on the implementation of previous strategies are available on the UITM website, enabling the University’s progress and initiatives to be followed over the years.
An important part of communicating about sustainable development at UITM is also the Green UITM, a platform dedicated to sharing information, initiatives and good practices related to sustainable development at the University.
Together, the Sustainable Development Office, the University’s strategies and reports, and the Green UITM provide a comprehensive source of information about UITM commitment to sustainable development and the actions undertaken to put its principles into practice.
